Green Nest

It is fascinating to watch nature transform over time and in this work I have attempted to put an effort into making that change visible - it was important for me to make a work that would actively reflect the transformation. This sculpture is made of torchi, a special clay preparation locally made in France. The sculpture was layered with fertile soil and had seeds sown in it that would begin to germinate and start growing. Tree houses have had an alluring appeal for adults and children. I wanted to create a tree-house-like space on top of this tall tree as a viewing or meditative space. This is a constantly evolving and ephemeral sculpture.
