Faiza Hasan’s practice is rooted in her engagement with objects of personal history and the complex ways they intersect with broader historical moments. Working primarily in charcoal, her drawings are often embellished and mended with gold, creating layered visual narratives that navigate a space between personal memory, official record, and public discourse. Through this approach, Hasan’s work reflects on the entanglements of past and present, offering meditations on time, loss, and preservation.
Until 2021, she served as Programme Manager at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Foundation, contributing significantly to the foundation’s education initiatives and programmes. Hasan’s debut solo exhibition, Dear M, was presented at GALLERYSKE, New Delhi (2021).
She also curated the Students’ Biennale at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in 2014. Her work has been recognized with the Amol Vadehra Art Grant (FICA, 2020) and she was the recipient of the first IAF x BMW commission in 2022.
Faiza acquired a B.F.A. from College of Fine Arts, JNTU, Hyderabad. Followed by an M.F.A. from the University of Hyderabad.
The artist lives and works in Hyderabad.
